Our minds and senses, our feelings and our consciousness, are the essence of who we are. Disorders of the brain and its nervous system have myriad impacts on individuals and on our society as a whole. And yet, the root causes of many neurological diseases are still poorly understood. The Center for Neurogenetics and the Feil Family Brain & Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine are dedicated to discovering the genetic factors driving many nervous system disorders in children and adults. Common and rare conditions under study include Epilepsy, Autism Spectrum, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Ataxia, and more. The Center brings patients together with clinicians, neurobiological and computer scientists, to unlock how changes in a single gene define an inherited disorder, or how small variations in multiple genes combine to determine an individual’s risk for neurological disease. This is fundamental to the journey toward ensuring Brain Health for all.
With your support, we can attract, train and retain stellar researchers and clinicians, and support their explorations with leading-edge technology and facilities. We can work with more patients to diagnose disorders, helping them and their families move ahead with their lives. And we can provide information and resources for patients, clinicians, and researchers across the United States and the world.
